Kestral Online Bookings is a web-integrated patient booking module built into Karisma that allows radiology practices across Australia and New Zealand to accept patient appointments online, 24 hours a day, without phone contact. Patients book directly into the Karisma diary, with the appropriate room and resource automatically reserved at the time of booking, eliminating double-booking and reducing front desk workload.
Kestral Online Bookings writes directly into the Karisma diary in real time. When a patient selects a service and time, the system checks availability, reserves the room and resource, and creates a scheduled request in Karisma without any manual step from practice staff. The booking appears immediately in the diary and triggers the configured SMS and email reminder workflow automatically.
Practices have full control over which services are visible for online booking and how far into the future patients can book. Services, preparation notes, time slots and site availability are all configurable at the worksite level within Karisma. Preparation notes can be set to display to patients at booking, to staff only, or to both, ensuring patients arrive with the right information for their examination.
Patients cannot reschedule or cancel appointments through Kestral Online Bookings. Booking enquiries and help requests from patients are managed through separate worklists within Karisma, allowing front desk staff to handle changes and queries in a structured way without those actions bypassing practice workflow controls. This keeps the practice schedule under the management of clinical and administrative staff at all times.
Kestral Online Bookings setup takes 4 to 8 business days depending on the number of sites being configured. Kestral manages the setup process directly, working with the practice to configure service availability, preparation note visibility, booking rules and site-specific settings before go-live. Practices go live with a fully configured booking environment rather than a basic default setup that requires further adjustment.
Kestral Online Bookings triggers automated SMS and email reminders as part of the booking workflow, with reminder timing and content configurable by the practice. Patients receive confirmation at the time of booking and can be sent preparation reminders ahead of their appointment. Automated delay notifications can also be sent to patients when unexpected schedule changes occur, reducing inbound calls to reception.
Kestral Online Bookings is configurable at the worksite level, so practices operating across multiple sites can control service availability, booking rules and preparation note visibility independently for each location. Patients can select their preferred site when booking, and the system manages room and resource allocation for each site separately within the same Karisma environment.
